Rohnert Park Man, 37, Found Dead In Santa Rosa Crash

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Rohnert Park man was found dead in his pickup truck in a crash this week at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building, the Santa Rosa Police Department said.

Officers responded at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday to a collision at the Veterans Memorial Building, 1351 Maple Ave., and found a red Toyota Tundra truck had crashed into the north perimeter fence of the Veterans Building and a residential fence.

Officers found a man dead inside the truck in the driver's seat. He was later identified as Mario Garcia-Villavicencio, 37, of Rohnert Park.

During the investigation, patrol officers and accident investigators learned that around 11 p.m. Tuesday, the Tundra was driving northbound on Brookwood Avenue, then veered west and drove through the east perimeter fence of the Veterans Building.

The Tundra continued through the parking lot and collided with the north perimeter fence of the Veterans Building and the backyard fence of a residence. The Tundra did not collide with a residence, and the residence was vacant so no one initially reported the crash, Santa Rosa police Lt. Christopher Majurin said.

Staff from the Veterans Building contacted the police department Wednesday morning when they arrived at work.

Garcia-Villavicencio's family members were notified Wednesday of his death.

Police were continuing to investigate the cause of the collision but they believe it may have been a medical emergency.
